Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance!! Albert Einstein

Hello and here we are once again my friends. You know this past week was a hard week because a friend of mine passed from Cancer and the one thing that i will always remember about her was that she always stood up for what she believed to be the right thing to do whether you or I agreed or not she stood for what she believed to be the right thing to do and I have to say that that is a quality  that cannot be trained or learned because either you have it or you do not not. In life you have to believe in doing the right thing as many times as possible or else the question becomes who are you really?

In business and leadership it is really the same thing because either you are a good leader or you are not. I know that leadership skills can be learned or taught, however the individual will need to make the mind change to be a good leader and sometimes must go against the status quo.

One of the reasons that through my research and many talks both on radio and local television shows si the Leadership fails because they have no idea how to engage people and even more important than that how to empower them and even better than that inspire them to reach higher then where they are at that point or any point in their lives.I find that in all or most of all the training that I have done for small businesses has been the big question that owners or managers ask me is how do we engage, empower and inspire our employees to believe in t themselves and the vision of the enterprise?

The answer is really simple I tell them: You have to listen to their stories get to know them as human beings and not just as employees. If you want to truly engage them then you have to ask them what are their needs to reach a goal. I have found that when you want true engagement with any one employees, spouse or kids you need to listen to their stories.

Google Images

As a leader you need to allow people to vent their frustrations and as hard as it might be to sit there and just listen to them sometimes as a leader you learn to appreciate the people that actually do the work for you.

The question now becomes do you as a leader know what is engagement? To me and what i try to assist leaders to understand is that engagement is whatever the employee brings to the organizations as an investment from themselves to give to the establishment. When a leaders listens it equals engagement it also means employees will do their best work.

When leaders and believe me there so many that just do not get it no matter what you teach them or tell them. Leaders will just simply turn away and say that is not my issue or I do not need to know who they are they have a job to do and these are the type of leaders who will diminish from employees because employees will never ever have any kind of relationship with them and they will never ever trust them to do the right thing when it concerns them.

Let me say this that not all leaders are bad some are really good and they care for people in general. They will take the time to listen to an employee and actually take the time to help them if help is needed.
When employees feel this way they will feel supported and they will also become more productive and let me tell you when employees feel this way regarding leadership and management this becomes a big advantage.

I always tell both leadership and employees the following:

One thing that all leaders need to know at this time in history is that according to research done by Grovo.com is that only 31 %  of employees are engaged which means that the 2/3 of the workforce in any organization is liable to leave and as always have said and I try my best to let Leaders and managers know that great employees will always leave their leadership and not the organizations.

Albert Einstein said said something a long time ago:

He said that condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance!!

"I wouldn't mind if I failed because I tried something worthwhile.Siggi Hilmarsson

Hello to all my friends around the globe who continue to support my journey in changing the perspective of life one mind at a time. We go through life making mistakes and that is OK as long as you the individual making those mistakes learns from them. I find personally that in my life I have made mistakes that have cost me dearly from loosing friends and relationships to loosing out on jobs. I have also learned that if you learn from those mistakes you become stronger and a much better person then you were before.

Learning from people is one of the most rewarding times that a great leader can have when they are willing to listen and share their lives with them. many leaders today are missing this ingredient to success and I have to say is that they will eventually fail as leaders.Leadership is not about power and wielding that hammer down when a member of your team makes a mistake it is about listening and teaching the correct way and with a smile. I have studied Napoleon Hill for over twenty years now and I have to tell you that this man had and to this day continues to teach me many things about life, history, mistakes and how to overcome them.

Failure seems to be nature’s plan for preparing us for great responsibilities.

If everything we attempted in life were achieved with a minimum of effort and came out exactly as planned, how little we would learn — and how boring life would be! And how arrogant we would become if we succeeded at everything we attempted. Failure allows us to develop the essential quality of humility. It is not easy — when you are the person experiencing failure — to accept it philosophically, serene in the knowledge that this is one of life’s great learning experiences. But it is. Nature’s ways are not always easily understood, but they are repetitive and therefore predictable. You can be absolutely certain that when you feel you are being most unfairly tested, you are being prepared for great achievement. BY Napoleon Hill

Leadership today in many organizations are failing their organizations and their people. The biggest issue is that leadership believe that they know it all and they know what people think and should do when the facts are that most of the time they are so disengaged that they miss opportunities and ideas from people in general. Leaders should set aside any preconceived notions they may have about any topic, and listen attentively and not be a judge towards the words that come from another.
 Quote of of the day:
"I wouldn't mind if I failed because I tried something worthwhile.Siggi Hilmarsson

According to Glen Llopis: Leaders fail in their primary role and responsibility of enabling the full potential in people and the business they serve because they don’t know the difference between substitution and evolution.   Instead of leading the organization and its people to continually evolve, they get stuck in a cycle of complacency and the substitution of activities associated with it.

As a result, the company cannot grow or its growth cannot be sustained. These leaders practice substitution over evolution. Substitution is when you believe you are taking a different approach, but in reality it is all too similar to how you have led in the past – and not what the business needs to grow and compete in the 21st century.   This type of leader seeks recognition for maintaining the status quo, rather than seeking to earn respect by identifying constructively disruptive ways of challenging the status quo.

Isolation Never A Way Or Technique To Lead--Dr. Luciano Santini

Hello to all my friends and well another week has passed now and here we are together again and so let us talk about  leadership a bit more because this seems to be an ongoing issue with everyone I speak to.

I believe that what seems to be and keeps coming up is that we have so many baby boomers trying to manage the new generations that are coming into the workforce with their old ways of managing which by the way is somewhat antiquated. Do not by any way think that there old techniques that do not work because the truth is that old way of managing can be good with the right way of training and implementing.

The main issue here seems to be understanding and isolation. What the hell do I mean by isolation you are asking? Well my friend let me tell you that in most cases I have found not only from experience but through research that I personally have done and tests that I have tried with my bosses and tests that I have tested in groups with staff members and I find that the biggest problem is isolation from leadership where they come to work and the only way or times that they will listen to you is if you stand in front of them or in their way as they walk in and they have to say excuse me to get passed you.

They walk into their offices and close the door and then they isolate themselves from having any kind of contact with people. What happens now is that people that you are supposed to lead begin to feel disconnected meaning they will do everything possible to avoid any contact. They will never ever trust you and perhaps start to sabotage the leadership members.People will also begin to feel unsupported and only do what they need to do to get by as far as work performance.

Here are some things people have said regarding leadership:

Three very important keys of being the most effective leader are:
1. Leaders are the most effective when they always investing in strengths.
2. Leaders are the most effective who surround themselves with the right people and maximize their team.
3. Leaders are the most effective who understand their followers needs.

When Leaders or anyone are without an awareness of their strengths, it’s almost impossible for them to lead effectively.
We all lead in very different ways, based on our talents and our limitations. Serious problems occur when we think we need to be exactly like the leaders we admire. Doing so takes us out of our natural element and practically eliminates our chances of success.

Ajay Kumar Gupta on said:

Leaders tend to isolate. More they reach up in hierarchy, more they tend to isolate people under. Since there are few people at the top and the responsibility is different, they generally feel to isolate people. And people below also tend to isolate them in routine matter. Leaders can overcome such tendency by remaining connecting with the people. The major problem why leaders or other people get disconnected is the perception of power.

Lower level people or employees feel powerless and leaders are perceived powerful. And this feeling makes the difference. So, leaders need to create a feeling of equality, caring and approachable. Leaders should create a feeling that employees are not fearful from leaders.
Leaders on the other hands, should be humble and encourage more interaction with the people. They should come out of their cabin and make effective communication. Generally, lack of interaction, communication and interaction by leaders is perceived negatively. People perceived leaders biased. So, communication and visibility is the key.

I believe that when leadership isolate themselves it creates so much chaos and sometimes leaders because they have no idea how to have or create a dialogue with another human being it become difficult to manage anyone. My friends isolation is a killer in business in any business.

One thing we should all know and have a very clear understanding is that people are not stupid!!! They know when you are not a leader.

I hope you enjoy this article and if you do please share with leaders and if you are a leader then read and reread over and over.

" You cannot give credibility to people without a record of achievements'-Ken Nissely

Hello my friends and how are we doing this fine day. Today is a great day because it looks a bit cool but clear and great to perhaps do a little traveling. I was just involved in a leadership seminar which was awesome and many questions were asked regarding leadership. One question that was asked was: How do we as staff know we have a leader in  place? My friends you have to understand that some leaders were in the room as well who operate this organization and knowing this myself was crazy but hey! they asked me to come and I told them ahead of time that these type of questions could be asked and to be prepared.

Here is my answer. I stated to the people that asked this question that in order to be able to have and know a leader is in place it would have to be someone that show passion towards people, someone who can inspire the people to follow the vision of the organization and someone who stands by them regards of good or bad choices.Leaders need to have an understanding of their staff in order to have expectations met in any organization due to this issue many leaders will fail.Leadership is not about knowing all the new technology that has reached corporations or about how good they are with paperwork.

People have to believe that the leaders they are to follow have the competency to guide people in the right direction and be someone who believes in their abilities to do the right thing. people must see the leader as being capable and somewhat effective. I believe Ken Nissely of James Expressions put it, " You cannot give credibility to people without a record of achievements'

Then I was asked what that meant exactly. Well I said it means that if a person is in a position of leadership and only leads to what they think and believe is leadership in ways such as "My way or the highway" in other words leads by power of position and not show passion and compassion to people then my friends that is no leader that is a person who somehow reached the top perhaps with good intentions but lost their way throughout the years or simply was not competent.

I have to say that in today's world of business it is becoming well known that the generalist manager and or leader is coming to a close specially in the knowledge of different industries. I see and notice many leaders believe that they are doing the right thing when in fact they are bringing down morale and affecting the organization in so many ways. I tell leaders that operate an organization where services are given may have very little contact with actual clients but in order to be a good leader he/she must have the competency to be a great consultant in that industry.

A leaders must be able not only to show people they can lead them but also to inspire them to reach their potential and also show ways to encourage them during hard times.I find that when people know that their leaders has no credibility or little credibility what happens is the following;

They will do great work when they are watched closely. people are only motivated when money is involved or used as an incentive. They will also react to new policies in a very slow way because they feel unsupported and the big one! unappreciated!.

One thing that most leaders fail to understand is that there is a big difference between having people follow you and receiving support then giving orders from a point of view of the position a person holds
.Maureen Fries says that "Leadership is getting people to look beyond their own job description for ways to improve and challenge the process".

Organization Theories And Reality Dr. Luciano Santini

Hello my friends and we are in one of those worlds where a person is measured by their success regardless of education and background. Just take a look at some of the most successful people in the world. They are the richest and  the most well known. The reason is simple they did not care about what people thought as far as their ideas and just believed in success for their life and now well they have what they wanted wealth fame and happiness.

In business it is the same process if you are serious regarding your success. If you care what your competition think about your ideas and never move forward regarding those ideas well my friends you will be swallowed up like the Whale who swallows the smaller fish in the ocean. Remember you are a small fish in the ocean of business and therefore you must innovate always to stay above the competition.

There are many theories in business for success but that is not what makes things happen. One has to remember that theories are theories;

Definition

A set of assumptions, propositions, or accepted facts that attempts to provide a plausible or rational explanation of cause-and-effect (causal) relationships among a group of observed phenomenon. The word's origin (from the Greek thorós, a spectator), stresses the fact that all theories are mental models of the perceived reality.

Assumptions, accepted facts. Just these twp for example assumptions and you know what happens when you assume anything- People get into trouble people ruin other people because of their assumptions pretty crazy and could be a career destroyer. Accepted facts are not facts they are facts that have been accepted if you think them to be true or believe they worked for one person  which will probably not work for the next one.

Let me just say that the basic human relation factors shows the operational conditions in any organization and what do I mean by this: Well regardless of the talent you may have in your organization if you do not have someone to lead them in the right direction with clear direction you have nothing. This is no assumption or accepted fact this is reality!

This usually will happen depending how your management is leading the team in any organization. Most managers will act as how thy think and will manage people the same way according to their way of thinking.
There are many theories out there to follow but you can do your own research and see what you are working with.
I will give you a few examples: Autocratic theory is to run an organization by fear somewhat but the jist of it is that a leader will show his/her power expects obedience from staff and depends on the fact that they are the boss and as far as morale well staff will be in compliance thus manager/leader will be happy and in a comfort zone.

How many times do you feel like talking back to your boss when they scold you or give you a project that you know you hate but take it to keep him/her happy and of your back!! I am laughing at this point because I know you have at one point or another right!

Well we do not talk back to the boss but we most certainly think back and they stay as thoughts in the minds of the frustrated individual which will in turn become aggression within the person which could lead to violence in the workplace!! When the person quits he/she may go off one the manager who made their life miserable.

I guess leadership is a pretty big need to run a n operation, but what does a leader look like or need to show to be a leader int he eyes of his peers and employees. Well from my research it seems like society is catching on regarding leadership skills or have they? I have spoken to human resource people who have their positions because they have some kind of thought process regarding human behavior and yet I have found that they lack the skills to build relationships with people. I have found that a leaders will show his style by his/her acts rather than by their traits.

Organizations today look for certain traits for a leader and create this cheat sheet if you will to follow during interviews and make a person fit into all of them and then fail to find the right person because they do not have the skills to find the right person. Why is this? It is because you will never ever find one person to have all the traits because leadership is situational issue it works around a situation when faced and either they will deal with it and solve it or not. Dow this make him/her a bad leader well it depends on the situation.

In a research that I was involved in our university we asked people what were the issues they faced with their worst bosses and they are; The disrespect they showed when they had ideas or suggestions; They had no skills building relationships; Very bad emotional intelligence and extremely bad communication skills.

I believe that these pretty much sum up what any organization might be looking for in a leader but the real question is will you find one-good luck my friends.
The key is when you hire a leaders look for those things but if they do not have them all the question then become what do you as an organization have in place to teach them those skills that are missing.

Business,Life,Chaos and Individuals

Well here we are on another beautiful Saturday morning and yet heartbroken. These past few days have been really busy. What I mean by busy is really busy inside my head thinking about what to write and what to think and what to search for. We live in a world of Chaos, in a world where we are not 100% safe anywhere anymore. My heart goes out to all those people that died this past week in San Bernardino in such a brutal and senseless way.

life is such a precious thing to me that I could never imagine anything like that happening close to me and yet it could happen to anyone and anywhere.

We are never prepared for something like this we can say that we are but the reality is we are not. In business it is the same thing. I have spoken and researched business owners regarding the failing businesses and not just in for profit companies but non profit organizations as well.

I have found that while most will prepare a great mission statement and a great vision statement and all it becomes is a plaque on the wall that is totally forgotten soon after it was distributed. I have asked many people to tell me their vision and mission statement and guess what! They can never ever recited for me unless they read it from the plaque. So what does this mean to me, it simply means you are totally disengaged with your company. Let us look at the bigger picture though and the question is why? the disengagement.

Well it is because the mission statement has been created by the top so called leaders and their Human Resource people who to begin with are way disengaged with staff and mid level management. I always find it hilarious when directives come down and are given to staff and mid level managers and their supervisors and expect them to roll out the directives with no direction whatsoever.

The issue is that when you pass on a directive it needs to come with instructions as if it was a bunch of pieces of wood that when stacked together it makes sense and a bench is created.

Imagine a bunch of wood pieces different shapes thrown at you  with a simple ( Here it is make a perfect box) I am not saying that it cannot be made but it will take time to figure it out and it may not turn out perfect and perhaps it will look like a box but will it be the box the top designers pictured probably not!!! and why; There was never no direction given.

Today's business world most companies are facing leadership and skills gaps. They are loosing so much knowledge about their companies with all the people retiring. If corporations and organizations do not get the ball rolling and preparation of those they feel have the skills to take over all those positions what they will end up with  what I like to call overwhelmed employees and what happens next can and will be disastrous to the organization. What most organizations need to create for their employees is a more communication and diverse environment.

Another issue I see is that most leaders fail to lead people. Let me ask a question when you hire someone do they come to work for you or do they come to work for their own reasons? This is a question that most leaders fail to understand. With this thought in mind we need to realize that everyone is an individual and not everyone learns at the same speed nor do they work at the same speed and yet people are expected to do more with less faster and better. I have to tell you that this mentality needs to stop and leaders need to get a better understanding not of their staff but of the individuals who work for their organization large or small.

When leadership understand these concepts that I have spoken about great things happens because you can identify your leaders and begin to train them and prepare them for promotions they so much deserve because as a leader my job is to teach and prepare the next leader within my organization instead what I see so much of is if someone is smart and has the potential to become a great leader they are shut down by the so called leaders due to their own failures and due to envious minds and thus those great potentials leave the organization to become the leaders they are meant to be and this usually happens with the competition.

Thank you for reading by posts and as always I love the comments and questions.

The Mind is A Beautiful Thing Learn To Use It--Dr. Luciano Santini

Hello everyone, today is a day that I will talk about a few different things. How many times do you either receive or give a performance review? How many times do you feel that what you were given does not come close to your true evaluation?

I have found that so many people are so disappointed when the receive their performance review because what management feel needs improvement doe snot make sense half the time. I did a research on this subject and what I find is that most management in both for profit and non profit organizations are so out of touch from the real world that instead of giving a real performance review what they give is a ready made template.

What does this do to both the organization and to the person receiving this performance review? Well for starters it hurts the organization simply because the person will either feel great or feel like leaving the company and leaves a question in their minds: Does this manager really know what he/she is doing?

My friends this is a failing process because most of the time the leadership do not know how  to improve the persons performance unless they actually place themselves in a position to actually teach the skills needed to improve performance.

I hear so many times that older people do not function as they should in today  world when the truth is that management focus on the issues and the age instead of actually focusing on the behaviors people show. Leaders need to focus on what the needs are and train and lead by example and give praise when they succeed.

When management sit down with a staff member and give them their review sometimes things are not understood as they were meant to be and people will assume they do understand what they heard.Often, however they fail to check for accuracy of what was stated and thus creates issues in the future. Management need to be able to expand on what they say to staff members making sure that there are no problems with what was written or explained and this is where many will fail

One other issue that I find in many organizations is that management rarely sit down with staff and ask them about any issues they may be having which may affect their jobs. Ok Ok perhaps some do but then they do not follow up and fix the problems and that can sometimes become a bigger problem because then staff will not trust anything you say. if you fix the problems staff informs you then it will show responsiveness and they to will respond to your needs when called upon.

By doing the above shows that you are not only trying to help create a better working environment but actually engaging them and creating a better working team. I have to tell you it is much better to have a team that works as one. On e thing that I always suggest to organizations and their leaders is that when you assist your staff be genuine be a real person even if it mans that you may have to lower your guard a bit.

leaders are human too and make mistakes like everyone else, however real leaders will laugh at their own flaws and they do not play make believe because they know that it is better to be than to seem to be.

Character is accurately reflected in one’s mental attitude.

Napoleon Hill

Without a strong foundation built on positive character traits, success will not long endure. It is virtually impossible to fake good character. Phonies are quickly spotted because they haven’t the substance and determination to maintain the charade. Developing good character begins with a positive attitude. Your desire to be a good, decent, honest, considerate person must first take place in your mind. When you make the decision to become a person of character, you will also find that you are much more willing to do the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do.

"Bang Your Head Hard Enough ideas Will Come"-Dr. Luciano Santini

Wise persons are those who think twice before speaking once.

Napoleon Hill

Perhaps the greatest quality in a leader and the most valuable skill in building relationships is the ability to think before you speak. If you have a tendency to speak hastily in anger and regret your actions at leisure, the childhood admonition to count to ten before speaking will still serve you well. When you pause — if only for a moment — to consider the consequences, you may think better of what you were about to say. And if you must speak strongly, it’s a good idea to sugarcoat the words — just in case you have to eat them later.

This is something that I truly believe when you have a leader that you are working with. I have seen so many so called leaders open their mouth thinking that either people do not see their incompetence or that their staff are blind to their mistakes when it comes to people. So called leaders just do not understand people in general and so they will say things in front of people like little stabs thinking that people do not understand what is happening. So -called leaders have no idea when they stick their foot in their mouth and it is pretty sad to see it happen right before your eyes.

It is no wonder these so called leaders have no idea how to build a team. It is difficult enough to get people to come together but it is more difficult to live with a team that does not ever come together and the so called leaders turn their face away and simply avoid the real issues. One thing i teach and train leaders to do is to continuously visualize a positive end result as a team.

The leadership must always use the 70-20-10 rule which is 70 % listening 20 % to inquire with just the right amount of advocacy of course most leaders do not know or understand what this means. One of the most important things that a leader needs to learn is to always  put other people's needs to express his or her agenda ahead of their own. The biggest issue is that most leaders care about their agenda and suggestions then other people's ideas and what they do is shut them down.

One thing that I see across the board in both private industry and non profit but mostly in government jobs and positions is that leadership are not capable of getting the job needed for success done because they are afraid to remove people who are failing to help them build success instead these that stop success and others from moving forward will be rewarded simply to get them out their hair and thus avoid the real issues.

One other thing that I find is that employee\s today are hungry for real life training that will actually teach them something. Ineffective legacy training programs are so costly and actually under serve the organization's learner's. In this scenario about 40 % of training will fail and yet knowing this organizations continue to bring in this type of training for their employees. you have to understand as a true leader that when you bring in the right kind of training and at the right time and in the correct way your staff will respond stronger.

According to Grovo.com the five most important key values most people specially the new era employees such as the millennials are as follows;
Development- meaning  Hunger for learning the correct way.
Meaning- Have training and learning that matters and will make a difference in their lives.
Autonomic- Most people hate micromanagement and micro managers.
Efficiency- Train in a way that will always show a better way and be open to new ideas and suggestions.
Transparency- As leader you need to share information so employees know and understand the why.

'We need to believe that we can lives through information and the correct way of training so people can learn what and why the changes must take place'-Dr. Luciano Santini

Generational Gaps In The World And Understanding Them

Hello to all and well here we are on another beautiful day. It is of a concern to me and would love to share this concern with the world out there. Times are changing all around us at home, work with relationships. The world is changing at a pace that most people cannot keep up.

The changes that are happening at work are of a concern due to leadership not being able to understand how to manage knowledge. You have so many generations that are going to have be able to learn from each other making difficult to understand the difference. Running an operation takes more then just having the position of power it takes more knowledge which many leadership are lacking in today's corporations.

Every generation  has made its own commotion as they start going into the workforce and what is the one thing that is common with all generations?" They say they do not get or understand us"

Let us take a look at this chart to get a better understanding of differences of the generations most organizations are involved with.

I believe that the way we manage people will either make the organization stronger or break the people down and ruin the organization. I like this chart because it makes it much easier to understand where you are as a leader and gives you a guide on how to more or less manage people. However I have stated before that we are in an age where it requires constant change and just telling people and expecting them to know via directive, command or control well it is a waste of time and you will be challenged if you are this type of leader and the of course you will not like it and frustration will set in.

Have you ever thought about the impact regarding traits and biases from different generations. If leaders have a better understanding of this and the diversity they face today they will have to implement tools within their organizations to be able to adapt to the changes quickly enough to be able to compete.

As leaders move forward with the new shifts regarding generational gaps without having the tools of understanding and having the skills to implement change then you might as well hang up the gloves and look for another job because you will be so frustrated with yourself because you will be dealing with a new type of risk that come with generation gaps.

Each person that is hired has a different background and they will affect our thoughts and behaviors and ultimately outcomes that will result the way leaders manage them.

In order to survive the changes that are coming you as a leader must understand the changes when you see them and be able to implement change and be able to implement the tools for adaptation to take place within your organization.
